Our Vision

Our vision is to transform lives in the love and power of Jesus. Everything we do, from our services and events to our community ministry, flows out of this vision. Our strapline is to come and share in a real life adventure. This is our invitation to the local community, and to everyone considering becoming part of the church family.

Our Values

We have ten family values as a church which are rooted in the Bible – be united, be transformed, be authentic, seek God’s guidance, your character matters, learn to celebrate, power in weakness, grow through grace, a spiritual culture, and famous for love. A bit of background

St Saviour’s Sunbury is a twice planted, mission-focused congregation. Originally created in 1881 as a mission base to workers from the wealthy Parish of St Mary’s, Lower Sunbury and situated in a tin chapel at Sunbury Cross, the church grew and built the current church building in 1912. Designed on cathedral proportions, although never finished due to the war, it seats 300.

Mission was a strong theme throughout the 20th Century but numbers had dwindled to approximately 20 members by 2001 and the church faced closure. The faithful praying congregation was determined to keep going. They trusted that God would breathe life into his church and transform their dwindling numbers into a faith-filled community spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. They decided to accept a church plant team from St Stephen’s Twickenham (a large, wealthy and vibrant church about 6 miles away).

In October 2002, 35 adults and 15 children and young people arrived full of energy and enthusiasm and a passion to spread the good news of the Gospel in the community. Mission, rather than survival, again came to the fore and the church quickly grew numerically as well as spiritually.

Today, St Saviour’s is a thriving, welcoming and vibrant church with services on Sundays and midweek, kids and youth groups, and a community ministry that seeks to meet the needs of those in our local area.
